Already stated in many ways.

B = Biscuits

C = Cookies

*B + 14 = Cookies "Because 14 more cookies than biscuits"

Also

*B + C = 38 "Because cookies plus biscuits totals to 38"

We know C = B+14

So we can substitude C with its longer version in the second equation: *B + (B+14) = 38 turns to-> B + B + 14 = 38, simplified it becomes 2B + 14 = 38.

2B + 14 = 38

2B = 38 - 14

2B = 24

B = 24 / 2

Biscuits = 12

*B + 14 = C

12 + 14 = 26

C = 26

Proof:

B + C = 38

12 + 26 = 38

Let 'c' be number of cookies and 'b' be number of biscuits:-c+b=38 and #c=14+b

14+b+b=38

b=12 and c+12=38:-c=26

38/2 = 19 . Then 14/2 = 7. So the answer 19+7=26

This should not be one of the ones marked as difficult, it is easier than some of the medium ones
